- Pelvic muscle spasms lead to pain in vagina

Diagnosis usually begins with a pelvic exam which includes checking if the area is healthy or not and if any problems are associated with it. The kind of tests your doctor will perform depends on the nature of the infection. Your doctor will also enquire about your medical history which also forms the basis for the treatment.
Treatment of Vaginal Pain
Treatment is suggested by your doctor after diagnosing the exact reason behind the pain. It could be topical treatments will various hormone creams and pain relievers or local anaesthetics. Injections are also given by doctors to combat the pain. Several other medicines like anti-histamines and antidepressants are also given to treat the associated symptoms like swelling, itching, tenderness, etc. Different types of pelvic floor exercises are suggested by doctors to improve muscle contraction in the vaginal region. These treatments are quite effective in alleviating the pain.
