Domestic violence, commonly referred as domestic abuse, can be defined as abusive behavior followed by a partner, towards the other, with an aim of overpowering or controlling the other. This kind of violence can take place in any intimate relationships such as family, friends, marriage, etc.

Domestic violence is considered as one of the most common forms of violence existing in almost every part of the world. As per the reports of Centers for Disease Control “Domestic violence is considered as public preventable health problem that is affecting more than 10% of the U.S. population”.

Any physical assault, sexual abuse, stalking, etc are considered as forms of abuse that lead to violence. Abuse or violence can happen any time and in any form. Let’s discover some of the common forms of violence.

Mostly, women and adolescent girls became the victims of this kind of abuse. Sexual abuse can be defined as an act of expression of dominance and power by one sex over the other. In this condition, woman or girl is forced to indulge in sexual activity i.e. without her consent sexual intercourse is performed.
