Diagnosis of Male Menopause
In order diagnose male menopause, you can either measure free testosterone blood levels or can compute the free androgen index (FAI). FAI is basically the percentage of total testosterone in sex hormone binding globulin. However, some controversy regarding the exact level of total blood testosterone in men is prominent. Normally, low end values, it begins from 250-400ng/dl, whereas free testosterone in men should range between 300 and1100ng/dl with the FAI ranging from 70 to 100%. In males, with FAI lower than 50%, symptoms of menopause occur.
