Gargling at home

If tonsillitis is nothing new for you or your kid then you should consider preparing this natural medicine at home and have it every day. All you need to do is- warm a glass of water and crush basil leaves in honey and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Blend and stir in warm water and drink it every morning after brushing.

Echinacea helps to fight tonsil infection

Echinacea is a flowering plant which has been used since ages to treat tonsil infections and respiratory symptoms. You can buy the extract from herbal store and use that much quantity as instructed on the label with water. You can also use the tincture as a gargle solution and make sure you gargle every two hours.

 

Hot concoction of butter and spices

Fill a bowl with butter generously and place it over low heat. Saturate the butter with sugar. Then add pepper, cloves, cinnamon, and garlic. Boil the butter with the spices for 2 minutes. The concoction is intensely hot, so allow it to be lukewarm so that you can sip it hot. Have it before bedtime until your sore throat disappears.

 

Drink warm liquids

Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids if you have symptoms of runny nose, sore throat, headache, nasal congestion, etc. Drink at least 2-3 liters of water, along with soups. Chicken soups prepared with lemon, pepper, bell pepper, carrots and broccoli is an excellent treat to get over general discomfort.

You can have coffee and tea. Herbal teas like chamomile tea, ashwagandha (somnifera) tea, green tea and ginger tea are excellent for soothing your aching throat.

Note: Apart from the aforementioned home remedies, you also need to protect yourself from external cold. So make sure you wrap a warm cloth or woolen scarf around your neck to receive comfort. Avoid eating foods from outdoors and have simple home cooked food.
