Garlic is often a part of every household kitchen and is not a cure for cough but a good remedy. Garlic is traditionally known for its medicinal value and has strong antimicrobial functions. Like garlic honey is also traditionally known for its antimicrobial functions. Honey is particularly good for children suffering from cough and two to three tablespoon of honey before going to bed can be beneficial. Ginger is another age old item used to treat cough. Ginger has a great ability to soothe coughing and its medicinal properties are well known. Quit smoking

Everyone knows that smoking is harmful but it is even more detrimental when having a cough. Smoking tends to aggravate coughing and trends to dry your throat. It is also advisable not to be around people who are smoking as it may lead to irritation.


There are many other forms of natural remedies for cough. These include carrot juice, almonds, onions and herbs like marshmallow and mullein. Drinking plenty of water and using a dehumidifier in the room to add moisture are also some of the other ways to lessen the symptoms of cough. Nutritional supplements that contain Vitamin A, C, E and folic acid are also effective remedy for cough.
