Medication for benign prostatic hyperplasia:
- Medications that belong to the class of Alpha 1 blockers such as doxazosin, prazosin, tamsulosin, terazosin, and alfuzosin are prescribed as it relaxes the muscles of the bladder neck and prostate glands.
- Finasteride and dutasteride reduces the size of prostate glands and increases the urine flow thereby relieving the symptoms.
- Antibiotics are also prescribed in chronic conditions.
