10 early signs of Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is known as one of the common diseases affecting elderly people. Old age is considered as childhood because when people grow older, they tend to lose memory, become weak and helpless like a child. People suffering from Alzheimer’s disease may face difficulty in completing the routine tasks in a sequence. For example, they get confuse in simple tasks like making a telephone call or playing a game, the sequence of cooking a dish etc.

It has been observed that people with Alzheimer’s find it difficult in recollecting the route like getting back to their home and so on. Some patients also find it hard to locate their things like wallet, toothpaste etc. even in their own home.

Many times, people with Alzheimer’s disease tend to misplace even their regularly used objects like tooth paste, car keys and so on.

Mood swing is very commonly seen symptom of Alzheimer’s disease. Such patients will have sudden changes in mood like from anger to happiness and happy mood to tears without any specific reason.


7. Trouble in performing mental tasks

As Alzheimer’s disease generally affects the mental ability of elderly people, they find it difficult to perform mental tasks like money calculation while shopping; they may even forget the way to use numbers and so on.


8. Sudden change in character

People with Alzheimer’s disease will show a sudden change in character; for ex. people who are normally shy and quiet can suddenly become very active and talkative or vice versa. Some people may become confused and completely dependent on family while some may become overly smart.


9. Unable to make decisions

Inability to make decisions is a frequently seen symptom in people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. These patients find it very difficult to even make simple decisions like what to wear, what to buy from a shop and so on.


10. Withdrawal from social life

Due to the internal neurological changes, patients keep themselves away from the society, sports or even from their hobbies and becoming highly introvert. 

Usually, Alzheimer’s disease is noticed at an advanced stage. These are some of the early signs of the disease. An early detection of this condition can help in getting better treatments and one can get more time to plan his/her future like creating a support system for themselves and more. Looking out for the early symptoms can even help people to prevent this disease and even controlling it with proper attention and medication.
