Mild hay fever is easily treatable by taking over-the-counter medications like non-sedating antihistamine like cetirizine, fexodenadine, etc. Nasal sprays like fluticasone propionate, mometasone, budesonide, etc. help considerably in improving hay fever symptoms. Moreover, these sprays are inexpensive and can be used entire day. Antihistamines nasal sprays are commonly recommended in such conditions. These sprays are also present in liquid or pill form. These sprays help in providing relief from nasal itching, inflammation and runny nose. Over-the-counter oral decongestants like Drixoal and Sudafed are also recommended, but try not to use it for long time period. Eye drops containing cromoglycate are usually used for reducing itching and swelling in eyes.
Though, one of the best ways of treating hay fever is to stay indoors and avoid getting in contact with allergens and other possible triggers. However, every time it is not possible. Therefore, it is prudent to take aforementioned treatments.
