Psyllium reduces cholesterol: The husk or powder of this high-in-fiber seed is found extremely effective in lowering cholesterol in people with mild to moderate high cholesterol. A dose of approximately 10-12 gm daily in combination with a low-fat diet can reduce levels of LDL cholesterol (bad) in the blood. Psyllium fiber seems to be most effective when taken along with food.
