Non vegetarian food items provide high quality proteins. However, these are also sources of saturated fats which are unhealthy. Saturated fat produces dietary bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure. Non vegetarian food items also provide essential nutrients like vitamin B12 and iron. So include non vegetarian items in your diet. But choose low fat, high protein options like lean meat, skinless chicken, egg whites, turkey breast and fish.
