Contrary to the belief that nuts are junk food, they are actually good for heart. Unsaturated fats present in the nuts lower the bad cholesterol (LDL). One amino acid, Arginine, found in nuts is a precursor of nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels. Nuts also contain vitamin E, folic acid, potassium, and fiber. A recent study that eating nuts several times in a week risk of myocardial infarction, heart disease, and sudden cardiac death by 30 to 50 %.
