First aid for burns

Aug 24, 2009
There are three types in burns - first, second, and third degree. First degree involves outer layer, second degree involves first and second layer of skin and third degree involves all the layers and causes permanent tissue damage. For the first and second degree burns, keep the burnt area under cool running water for about 15 min. Do not apply any ointment or butter on the affected area. For third degree, do not keep the burnt area under running water and also do not remove the burnt clothing before going to the emergency center.
