Ear infection in children: Antibiotics are not helpful

Up to 80 per cent of children with ear infections can get better without antibiotics. A child can be given over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen for pain relief and decreasing discomfort. But the key to resolving ear infections in children is maintaining good hygiene. Wash hands frequently - especially after using the bathroom, changing a diaper or helping a child use the toilet.
