Calcium requirement in post menopausal woman

Due to low level of estrogen, post menopausal women are more prone to bone loss and bone fracture. According to the North American menopausal society, post menopausal women require 1200 mg of calcium per day. Calcium is the most important component of bone. Bone fracture is commonly found in women who are lactose intolerant, vegans (vegetarians), or women with poor eating habits. Ex: of calcium rich foods are milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, soy beans, and orange juice fortified with calcium help.
