Uses: Cinkona 100 mg tablet is used to treat malaria.
How to use: Take Cinkona 100 mg tablet orally with food to avoid stomach upset. Do not take an antacids containing aluminum or magnesium 2 hours before or after taking the quinine as these products bind with quinine and prevent the body from absorbing the drug. Take this medication for full prescribed length of time. Stopping the medication early may result in return of the infection. Do not take heparin or warfarin along with quinine as these increase the risk of side effects such as bleeding.
Side Effects: Dizziness, flushing, headache, restlessness, confusion, nervousness, nausea, sweating, ringing in the ears
Dosage: Usual adult dose for malaria (uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria): 648 mg orally three times daily for 7 days.
