Hepatitis A vaccine is used to prevent Hepatitis A infection. Hepatitis A infection is caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV).

How to use Hepatitis A vaccine:

Hepatitis A vaccine is given by health care provider at hospital or doctors office. This vaccine should not be given to children less than 12 months old.

Side effects of Hepatitis A vaccine:

Pain, soreness or redness at the injection site, headache, fatigue, mild fever, weakness

Dosage of Hepatitis A vaccine:

1 mL by intramuscular route (IM) 2 weeks before you travel to places where a high risk of hepatitis A infection. Booster of 1 mL by IM between 6 to 12 months of primary dose.
