Uses: Ethyol 500 mg injection is used to decrease the risk of kidney damage caused by treatment with a anti-cancer drug (cisplatin). It is also used to help prevent dry mouth caused by radiation treatment for head and neck cancer.
How to use: Ethyol 500 mg injection is given by health care provider intra venously at doctors office before 15 to 30 minutes of cancer treatment.
Side Effects: Nausea and vomiting, low blood pressure, dizziness, flushing/feeling of warmth.
Dosage: 910 mg/m2 administered once daily as a 15 minute IV infusion, 30 minutes before chemotherapy.
