Uses of this medication:
Captopril used in the treatment of heart failure and hyper tension. Used as a prophylactic in the management of myocardial infarction.
How to use this medication:
Captopril is taken orally with glass full of water one hour before the food. It is advisable to drink plenty of water while taking this medication. If you are being treated for high blood pressure, keep using medicine even if you feel better until your doctor advised to stop this medication.

Always remember to inform your health expert if you are taking any prescription or OTC medication.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medical conditions, allergies.
If you are planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding pl. make sure you notify to your health expert.
Side effects and when to consult your health expert:
Tachy cardia, dizziness, nausea, headache, fainting, hypotension, cough. If any of these side effects become worse then consult your doctor immediately.
Dosage and Missed Dose:
Dosage:
25 mg two times daily and increased gradually up to 50 mg three times daily. In patients with CHF it is wise to start with 6.25 mg twice daily to avoid marked fall in blood pressure initially. or
Use as directed by your physician, your physician prescribes depending on the severity of disease.
Use the complete course of medication as prescribed by your physician even though you feel better after one or two days of usage of medication.
Missed dose: If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at same time to cover up the missed dose
Storage:
Captopril should be stored at room temperature between (15-30 degrees C). Store it in a place where it won’t be exposed to excessive heat, moisture or direct sunlight never store in bathroom. Keep it out of reach of children. Make sure that any leftover portion is disposed of safely.
General information:
Captopril effect in children less then 6 years is not known so it should not be used in them. In elderly person it should be started with very low dose. There is a chance that elderly people have affects like decrease renal, hepatic and cardiac function.
Dizziness and drowsiness effects become worse if alcohol is consumed while taking this medication.
