Rabeprazole is a prescription drug available from your pharmacy store only with the prescription of a qualified medical practitioner.
Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. Rabeprazole works by inhibiting the production of acid in the stomach.
- Rabeprazole is used in the treatment of Ulcer
- Gastro esphageal reflux disease
- Zollinger Ellison syndrome
- Erosive oesophagitis
Rabeprazole along with antibiotics used to treat the gastric problems caused by the helicobacter pylori or (H. pylori )
Take the rabeprazole tablets or capsules as directed by your doctor by mouth with or with out food with glass of water. If you do not understand the instructions on the prescription ask your pharmacist to explain them to you.
Rabeprazole comes as delayed release capsule. Does not crush or chew the medication take it as a whole
It is preferable to take the rabeprazole in the morning after the meals.
Rabeprazole can be taken along with the antacids.
Children: Safety and efficacy of rabeprazole is not established in the children.
Older people: Rabeprazole is not showing any extra adverse effects compared to young people however it is advisable to be cautious as some older individuals may be sensitive to rabeprazole
Pregnant women: rabeprazole belongs to FDA pregnancy category B. This means that rabeprazole is safe during pregnancy and is not expected to cause any harm to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning for conception.
Lactating women: It is not known whether rabeprazole passes into breast milk or if it could harm the baby. Do not take rabeprazole with out first talking to doctor if you are breast feeding baby.
Other: Avoid drinking alcohol.

- Diarrhea
- Restlessness
How do I store rabeprazole
Store rabeprazole at room temp (15 – 30 degrees C). Avoid excessive heat, moisture or direct sunlight, never store in the bathroom.
Keep it out of reach of children. Make sure that any leftover portion is disposed off safely.
Rabeprazole may cause dizziness caution is advised while driving and operating the machine.
Use complete course of the medication given by doctor do not stop the medication with out consulting the doctor. You might get the relief from the symptoms after you complete the total coarse of the medication.
Take the medication daily once preferable in the morning.
