Uses of this medication:

Bisacody is a stimulant laxative. It acts mainly large intestine by increasing its motility.

It mainly used to treat constipation and evacuation of the clon.

How to use this medication:

Take each dose with full glass of water. Swallow the tablets or capsule as a whole. Do not crush or chew them.

Bisacodyl is also available as rectal suppository and rectal enema. Pl consult your health care provider about the usage of these kind of mediction and read all the directions on the leaflet from the manufacture if available.

Always remember to inform your health expert if you are taking any prescription or OTC medication.

Do not take this medication if you have stomach pain or nausea and vomiting.

If you are planning to become pregnant and or breast-feeding pl. make sure you notify to your health expert.

Side effects and when to consult your health expert:

Consult your doctor if you have severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or rectal bleeding.

Less severe side effects are

Abdominal discomfort (Colic, Cramps)

Rectal preparation may cause irritation.

Dosage and Missed Dose:

Dosage:

For the treatment of constipation 5 to 10mg tab taken by mouth at night.

For suppository or enema 10mg taken by rectal in the morning. or

Use as directed by your physician, your physician prescribe depending on the severity of disease.

Use the complete course of medication as prescribed by your physician even though you feel better after one or two days of usage of medication.

Missed dose: If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at same time to cover up the missed dose

Storage:

Store the suppository in a cool place. Tablets can be stored at room temperature between (15-30 degrees C). And store it in a place where it won’t be exposed to excessive heat, moisture or direct sunlight never store in bathroom. Keep it out of reach of children. Make sure that any leftover portion is disposed of safely.

General information:

• If you notice sudden change in bowel movements and persist for two weeks then consult you r doctor.
• It is advisable to take high fiber content while taking this medication for better results. Drink plenty of water and maintain some physical exercise.
• It is advisable not to take this medication more than a week since it cause dependency.
• Do not take the antacids or milk with in 1 hour of taking the bisacodyl.
