The abdominal area is the area between the chest and groin commonly referred to as the stomach region or belly. Any pain in this area is referred to as abdominal pain. However, Abdomen pain may originate from other regions like chest and pelvic region.

Some of the common causes of abdominal pain are:

  • Pain at the rim of lower abdomen and lower back may be caused by kidney stones or ureter stones;
  • Pain of lower right abdomen are due to appendicitis;
  • Pain of upper abdomen may be caused by stomach or duodenum diseases;
  • Pain of right rid may be caused by liver and gallbladder diseases;
  • Pain of left rid may be caused by spleen disease.

Moreover cramp at the rim of lower abdomen of women are usually caused by pre-menstruation symptoms.

Home remedies for terrible persistent stomach cramps are: 

1. Drink a herbal solution made of fennel and peppermint tea.

2. Drink chamomile tea. Chamomile tea helps in soothing swollen mucous membranes in the stomach.

3. Drink hot tea with lemon juice and one teaspoon of whiskey.

4. Drink herbal tea of red raspberry leaf, comfrey or alfalfa.

5. Drink plenty of water to flush out all the toxins and nutrients causing cramps.

6. Eat a mixture made of basil leaves, one fourth teaspoon of salt, three tablespoon of curd and pinch of black pepper.

7. Drink red wine, vodka and cranberry juice.

8. Take a hot bath to relax the muscles.

9. Use a heating pad over your stomach.

10. Bake rice in a microwave and place it on your abdomen.

Home remedies for treating Abdominal Pain in Children
 
One should treat abdominal pain in children care fully. 

1. You can give the child soup or ginger ale. You should not give give an infant boiled milk or water, as these can cause serious problems with the blood volume in the body. Moreover, an upset stomach usually cannot tolerate milk, caffeine, sports drinks, and carbonated beverages. So these should never be given in case if the child suffers from diarrhea.

2. Ginger is one of the best treatments for abdominal pain. Prepare a mixture with one fourth teaspoon of fresh ginger juice and half teaspoon of honey. Give this mixture twice daily to treat abdominal pain. This provides relief from pain caused by gases or any other problem in the stomach or intestines. However, ginger must not be given to children below two years of age.

3. You may also give the child lemon juice added to warm water. Not only lemon helps bowel movements, a small dose of lemon juice water in the morning helps in the production of bile in the liver, which help in digestion.
 
Home remedies for treating abdominal pain due to periods: 

1. Place a heating pad directly over the cramping area

2. Drink hot beverages like herbal teas (chamomile or lavender tea ) or hot cocoa. You may also drink warm ginger root tea, warm milk, or soup to reduce cramps. However, drinking regular coffee may make the cramps worse.

3. Relax your abdominal muscles relax by giving yourself a massage all over your lower abdomen with your fingertips while lying on your back. You may also soak a small towel in warm water, remove excess water and wrap the towel in the lower abdomen to relax the blood and tissue in the uterus.

4. A mixture of calcium, Vitamin D and magnesium may also be used for eliminating menstrual cramps.

 
Treatment for abdominal pain during pregnancy
 
The following are some quick remedies for treating abdominal pain during pregnancy:
1.Sit down, put your feet up, and relax. Resting comfortably sometimes provide relief from abdominal pain.

2.Avoid quick change in position like turning sharply at the waist. In case if pain is felt, bend toward the pain to relieve it.

3. Walking, doing light housework, or changing position may provide relief from pain caused by gas or bloating.
